The Lowell High School is very proud to announce that Junior David Hancock of Forest Hills, NY, has been selected a recipient of the Queens Council on the Arts “High School to Art School” (HS2AS) visual arts portfolio development program. David competed in a highly competitive selection process among many other Queens public and private high schools for a select spot in this top quality arts training program. The grant-funded high school program is offered by the Queens Council on the Arts to support a new generation of young artists, curators, designers, and historians as they prepare for their careers in the arts. The program, held on Saturdays, began February 27 and runs through May 22, 2010 at the Queens Museum of Art. David will have the opportunity to work with invited artists; visit artists’ studios, museums, and galleries to visually experience the ideas learned in the classroom and work on his portfolio (in many media) as he prepares to apply for college. Lowell High School Principal Susan Klein, Art teacher Barbara Waring, and fellow students extend their warm congratulations to David. Click here to read more.
