Susan Klein, Principal of The Lowell High School, has been awarded a $2000 grant from Voya (formerly ING) as part of the company’s 2014 “Unsung Heroes” awards competition. Selected from a group of more than 1,000 applicants, Mrs. Klein is one of only 100 winners across the country to receive this award. In addition, she will now compete with other winners for one of the top three prizes.

The money will be used to fund and bring to life her creative idea, Movement Matters, which uses a physical education program that combines fitness, dance steps, and games to create a movement experience. In addition to the health benefits, this endeavor will provide many opportunities to develop specific executive functions, including starting a task, developing working memory, and improving organization. All of these factors will have a positive effect on learning and performance. The students look forward to participating in this exciting new program.
